(TR) The world is facing multiple and complex challenges. We need a Security Council - and a UN - focused on seeking cross-cutting solutions to global problems. A clear commitment to Peace and Human Rights.

(TR) In the era of artificial intelligence, where social changes are close to those of 135 years ago (of the encyclical Rerum Novarum), it is not too much to remember the centrality of the citizen and their rights. In essence, to remember our values.

(TR) The first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV is a fundamental document to understand, reflect, and discuss the challenges of the time we live in. The "Magnifica Humanitas" focuses on what is essential: human dignity. It is an excellent contribution.

(TR) The fragmentation of Parliament cannot block the institutions, and we now have the opportunity to elect the Ombudsman. The Portuguese expect action and decision, and no more delays or political games. It is time to rise to the occasion and preserve our institutions.

(TR) It is an important step to fulfill our part of the Turnberry Agreement and, thus, limit the U.S. "tariffs" on many European products to 15%. It is important to do our part, just as it is to demand that the U.S. does the same.

(TR) The European Parliament and the Council have reached an agreement on the regulation that eliminates customs duties on North American industrial products and grants preferential access to goods. It is good news, but caution is necessary.

(TR) In the last year, we saw European leaders, from Macron to Sánchez or Starmer, visiting Beijing, trying to strengthen relations. Leaders that are now facing delicate national political situations, interestingly. China must be a dialogue partner, but it also needs to give signs of commitment.

(TR) Receiving Putin with state honors just four days after receiving the President of the USA is a strong political message about Beijing's goal to position itself as a neutral or mediating power, but - for that - one must be consistent and we do not see results.

(TR) China is an economic power that wants to assert itself as a political power, but international relations cannot be based purely on economic or political power. They must be based on universal values and firm commitments to a "common ground," which is International Law.
