As 2025 approaches, the Lake Plunge at Evergreen Lake is set to welcome the New Year with a splash, inviting hundreds of participants to leap into its refreshing waters. This annual event, organized by Active 4 All Evergreen, promises to be larger than ever, with enthusiasm running high among organizers and jumpers alike.

Dr. John DuRussel, president of Active 4 All Evergreen, expressed confidence in the event's execution, stating, "This is going to be a big one. We really have this down." Participants can look forward to a festive atmosphere complete with food, fun, and designated changing areas, ensuring a comfortable experience for all jumpers.

Last year's plunge attracted its largest crowd to date, with over 400 brave souls daring to take the icy dip. The funds raised by Active 4 All from the event support various Evergreen Park and Recreation District programs, including the Inspire Special Needs program, which provides outdoor experiences for kids and their families.

The festivities will commence at 10 a.m. at the picturesque lake, with CBS News Colorado’s Alan Gionet returning as the event’s Emcee, adding a touch of charm and excitement to the occasion. “It’s important that we keep things weird,” Gionet remarked, highlighting the event’s fun spirit.

The Lake Plunge not only marks a unique way to ring in the New Year but also fosters community spirit and support for local initiatives, making it a tradition that resonates deeply within the Evergreen community.
