Couple gets married at Chicago area hospital on New Year's Eve before doctors induce labor for mom
Brittany Kolawole and Anthony Hawkins of Bolingbrook tied the knot in an unconventional ceremony on New Year's Eve at 7 a.m. in Hinsdale, Illinois, but the setting—a hospital—was dictated by necessity. Kolawole, ready to give birth, chose the venue to ensure she was surrounded by her trusted medical team. “My delivery doctor is down here, all my nurses, the whole labor delivery is here,” she explained.
The couple experienced a whirlwind of emotions on this particularly unique day. Kolawole likened her feelings to an exploding head emoji, while Hawkins described himself as "bubbling full of joy and excitement." Their wedding was both a celebration of love and a countdown to welcoming their new baby girl, which was scheduled to happen after their vows.
The couple has four boys and is excitedly anticipating the arrival of their first daughter, who they plan to name Princess Anyiah. “It's just the baby girl part that adds the extra icing and the extra cherry on top,” Hawkins remarked, emphasizing the significance of the day. For them, their wedding and the birth of their daughter are intertwined, marking a new chapter in their lives.
The ceremony, held in the hospital chapel, was followed by a reception in the delivery room, showcasing their ability to adapt to the moment. Kolawole, donning her wedding dress, expressed relief and comfort, noting she could finally relax after the vows. With their wedding completed, she was eagerly looking forward to enjoying breakfast and preparing to welcome their daughter.
This extraordinary beginning to the New Year highlights the couple's love for each other and their family. As they embark on this new journey together, they cherish both their wedding and the imminent arrival of Princess Anyiah, bringing joy and hope for their growing family.
