First babies of 2025 born in Broward, Miami-Dade hospitals
Hospitals in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties celebrated the arrival of the first babies born in 2025 just hours after midnight on New Year's Day. These newborns are noteworthy as they mark the beginning of a new generation, referred to as Gen Beta. However, their parents will have to wait until 2026 to claim them as tax deductions since they were born after the deadline of December 31, 2024.
Among the first births, Kallie Star Allwood arrived at 6:07 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces. Her mother, Jessica Isaac, shared that the delivery went remarkably fast, taking less than 30 minutes after arriving at HCA Florida University Hospital. Originally due on January 10, Kallie decided to make her entrance on New Year's Day, and both mother and baby are reported to be in good health.
HCA Florida University Hospital's CEO, Madeline Nava, expressed joy at Kallie's arrival, stating, "We are so happy to welcome baby Kallie as the first baby born at our hospital in 2025." She also extended congratulations to the family, emphasizing the hospital's commitment to supporting them in their parenting journey.
Another newborn, Angel Velazquez Martinez, arrived at 2:11 a.m., weighing 4 pounds, 15 ounces. He is the second child of Luz Martinez Arellano and Gerardo Velazquez Camacho, who are thrilled to expand their family with Angel's arrival.
Additionally, A'nali and Aitana were born moments after midnight, contributing to the joyful celebrations. A'nali weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 20.5 inches, while Aitana weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 20 inches. The families of these newborns expressed their happiness at welcoming healthy children, symbolizing hope for a prosperous new year.
