Detroit area hospitals welcome first babies of 2025
As the new year begins, families in Metro Detroit are celebrating special additions to their households. Notably, Chiquita Anthony welcomed her baby girl, Amarah, precisely at midnight on Wednesday at Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital. Amarah, weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long, arrived slightly past her due date of December 30. This marks Anthony’s second child.
At Trinity Health Ann Arbor, Ciara Gray-Walker from Ypsilanti also experienced the joy of a New Year’s birth when she gave birth to her son, Christopher Gray, at 12:18 a.m. Christopher weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces. The hospital reported that it typically welcomes 12 babies into the world during the early hours of New Year's Day.
Trinity Health Oakland celebrated its first arrival of the year at 12:39 a.m. with Meghan Wilson from New Baltimore giving birth to a baby girl named Ella. Ella weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces and joins her two older siblings.
Meanwhile, at Trinity Health Livonia, Julia and Tyler Loveall from Berkley joyfully welcomed their first child, a boy named Cooper, at 8:36 a.m. Cooper weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces, although the family did not provide a photo for this announcement.
