Baby boy born at Krispy Kreme gets sweetest surprise

An Alabama mother, Sha'Nya Bennett, experienced a surprising childbirth in the parking lot of a Krispy Kreme shop in Dothan this month. In a delightful twist, the doughnut chain is honoring the family with a year's supply of free doughnuts and an annual birthday celebration for her newborn son, Dallas, until he reaches adulthood.

Bennett, 23, initially planned to be induced the day after she delivered Dallas on January 22. However, after experiencing contractions, she and her boyfriend, Keon Mitchell, made their way to Flowers Hospital, nearly 20 minutes from home. Complicating their trip was a recent snowstorm that left local roads icy and hazardous.

As they drove, waiting for their car to defrost added to their delays. Bennett described how the contractions intensified, prompting them to call 911. The situation escalated when, just as they approached Krispy Kreme, Bennett felt the baby arriving. Mitchell quickly turned into the parking lot, and within moments, baby Dallas was born.

After the birth, emergency responders arrived and took Dallas to Flowers Hospital for a check-up, where he was warmed up to counteract the cold. Both mother and baby are doing well, and big brother Legend is thrilled, especially since Krispy Kreme is one of his favorite places.

Krispy Kreme is celebrating this unique event, as Dallas is reportedly the first baby to list the doughnut shop as his place of birth on his birth certificate. The company's Chief Growth Officer expressed joy and excitement, remarking on the sweetness of the occasion and the annual celebrations they will hold for Dallas moving forward.
