Livestock returns to Brunton Dairy Farm 15 months after devastating fire
Brunton Dairy Farm in Independence Township, Beaver County, has successfully reintroduced livestock to their facility more than 15 months after a devastating fire ravaged their operations. The seventh-generation family-owned farm shared updates on their progress, showcasing their new setup with cows returning to a state-of-the-art barn.
On Wednesday, the owners provided a glimpse of the farm's new facility, which features robotic milkers designed to enhance efficiency. Mary Jane Brunton, a member of the family, noted that the cows have adapted well to their new environment, often entering the milking area independently and enjoying the automated process of being milked up to three times a day.
While the milking barn is operational again, the processing plant that prepares the milk for sale has not yet reopened. As a temporary measure, Brunton Dairy has been collaborating with Schneider's Dairy in Whitehall Borough, sending their raw milk to be bottled for distribution.
The successful adaptation of the cows and the establishment of the new barn mark significant milestones for Brunton Dairy Farm, demonstrating resilience and commitment to their longstanding agricultural legacy. The family is hopeful for the future as they continue to rebuild their operations.
Overall, the return of livestock and the implementation of advanced technology signify a promising new chapter for the farm, which remains focused on providing quality products while navigating the challenges of recovery.
