Man arrested in felony menacing incident at Red Robin

Officers from the Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) responded to a felony menacing incident reported at Red Robin on March 7. The call came in around 10:30 p.m., prompting officers to arrive at the scene where they discovered a man had attempted to settle his bill with counterfeit money.

The situation escalated when an employee confronted the man outside the restaurant. During this encounter, the man picked up a metal pole from the back of a nearby truck and threatened the employee by swinging the pole at him.

Following the incident, police were able to locate the suspect near the Rimrock Walmart within a short period. Upon apprehending him, officers discovered he was in possession of additional counterfeit money along with multiple credit cards that were not his.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Adam Winningham, was arrested and subsequently booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
