Pedestrian, 69, killed in Mission Hills hit-and-run

SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Mission Hills on Thursday, resulting in the death of a 69-year-old pedestrian. The man was walking on Hancock Street in the 2100 block, located between Interstate 5 and Pacific Highway, when he was struck by a southbound white Dodge Challenger shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Details from the San Diego Police Department reveal that following the collision, the driver failed to stop and fled the scene. Officer Jose Perales indicated that the driver did not attempt to assist the victim after the accident.
Emergency responders arrived promptly and transported the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. As of now, authorities have not released the victim's name.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns over pedestrian safety in busy urban areas. Investigations into the crash are underway, as police work to locate the driver of the Dodge Challenger.
