Emery County Sheriff reports marijuana busts totaling nearly 50 pounds

GREEN RIVER -- The Emery County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday that two significant drug busts on Interstate 70 resulted in the seizure of nearly 50 pounds of marijuana and several firearms.
The sheriff's office emphasized the seriousness of these offenses, stating, "It is illegal to traffic controlled substances in the state of Utah, and it violates additional laws to traffic firearms while in possession of controlled substances."
During one of the operations, officers confiscated 25 pounds of marijuana. In the second bust, 23 pounds of marijuana were seized, along with multiple firearms and three "switches," devices that convert semi-automatic handguns into fully-automatic firearms.
These arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and associated firearm offenses. The sheriff's office is committed to ensuring the safety of the community and addressing illegal activities on the highways.
The operation serves as a reminder of the legal repercussions involved in drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession, reinforcing the commitment of law enforcement to uphold the law in Utah.
