Man charged with firing multiple shots inside mother's home, one toward her
A 38-year-old man from Evadale, Henry Meza, has been arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots inside his mother's home in Jasper County, including one shot directed at her, although she was not injured. He faces serious charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Firearm related to Family Violence and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Additionally, Meza had an existing felony warrant for a third or more DWI from Jefferson County.
The incident unfolded on a Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m., prompting a swift response from deputies following a report of gunfire on County Road 718 in Buna. Before deputies arrived, it was reported that Meza had left the scene, and dispatchers provided a description of his vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, a deputy spotted Meza’s vehicle nearby and conducted a traffic stop, successfully detaining him for questioning. The preliminary investigation revealed that several rounds had been fired within the residence, with one shot specifically aimed in the direction of his mother.
Miraculously, no one in the home was injured during the incident. The rapid response of the Jasper County Sheriff’s office likely prevented further escalation or potential harm to the victim.
Meza now faces not only his current charges but also the implications of his previous felony warrant. He remains in custody as the legal process unfolds.
