Bowie County Sheriff's Office investigates fatal shooting in Maud

A 27-year-old man from Maud, Texas, named Keyshawn Wickware, has been arrested by Bowie County Sheriff Deputies for allegedly fatally shooting a store employee during an armed robbery. He faces charges of capital murder in connection with the death of Denyle Pierce, who was 47 years old.
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Family Dollar Store in Maud. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered Pierce deceased from a gunshot wound. Investigators have noted that surveillance footage indicates Pierce was complying with Wickware during the robbery when he was shot.
Sheriff Jeff Neal reported that a vehicle resembling the description of the suspect's was located at a residence in Maud approximately three and a half hours after the shooting. Officers made contact with the residents and were given consent to search the home.
During the search, deputies found the jacket worn during the robbery as well as a firearm matching the caliber used in the shooting. This evidence provided the probable cause needed to arrest Wickware.
Wickware is currently being held at the Bowie County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
