Smash-and grab burglar breaks windows of 3 South Loop businesses, steals cash from one: CPD

Police are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary that occurred at a South Loop strip mall early Saturday morning. The incident took place between 2:50 a.m. and 3:10 a.m., during which the suspect broke the front windows of three businesses.
According to police reports, the burglar entered one business but did not take any merchandise, instead exiting through the rear. He then targeted another establishment, where he managed to steal an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.
Debris from the break-in was scattered around the area, particularly near the intersection of South Clark Street and South Archer Avenue, where rocks and shattered glass were visible.
As of now, the suspect has fled the scene, and there have been no arrests made in connection to the burglary.
Area Three detectives are currently conducting an investigation to gather more information and identify the individual responsible for the crime.
