Washington: US Secret Service agents shot an armed man near the White House during the night. The incident occurred while President Donald Trump was spending the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. An agency spokesman confirmed that the man had been hospitalized, but his condition remains unknown.

The spokesman did not indicate whether the White House or Trump was the intended target of the man's actions. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to the Secret Service agents involved in the confrontation, according to a statement by spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi on social media.

Local police had informed Secret Service personnel about a "suicidal" man traveling from Indiana to Washington. Around midnight, agents located the suspect's parked vehicle near 17th and F Streets, which is in close proximity to the White House.

As officers approached the individual who matched the provided description, he brandished a firearm, prompting an armed confrontation. Shots were exchanged during the encounter, resulting in the suspect being shot.

The suspect was subsequently transported to a local hospital, and his condition is currently unknown. The Washington police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
