Emery County marijuana busts totaling nearly 50 pounds

GREEN RIVER -- The Emery County Sheriff's Office reported two significant drug busts on Interstate 70, resulting in the seizure of nearly 50 pounds of marijuana and multiple firearms.
According to the sheriff's office, trafficking illegal controlled substances is prohibited in Utah, and possessing firearms while engaged in such trafficking violates additional laws.
In the first bust, officers confiscated 25 pounds of marijuana, while the second incident led to the discovery of 23 pounds of the substance along with several firearms.
Notably, the vehicle involved in the second bust contained three "switches," devices designed to convert semi-automatic handguns into fully-automatic weapons.
The sheriff's office emphasized the seriousness of these offenses, reflecting their commitment to combating drug trafficking and gun-related crimes in the region.
