Woman Charged In Connection With Rochester Shooting Investigation

Bail has been set at $100,000 for Emina Sabackic, a 29-year-old Rochester woman who was found with a gunshot wound last fall. Officers responded to a shooting report on November 24, 2024, around 3 AM, where they discovered Sabackic had been shot in her lower body. She informed the police that she had been shot by one or more males in northwest Rochester.

The criminal complaint indicates that Sabackic acknowledged picking up a firearm that had fallen nearby, claiming her DNA would be on it. A semi-automatic Glock handgun, determined to be stolen from Minneapolis, was recovered from the scene.

Prior to the shooting, a search warrant executed at Sabackic's residence uncovered a box of 9 mm ammunition and loose rounds in her bedroom. A witness also reported that Sabackic possessed the firearm used in the shooting three days earlier and had allegedly purchased it from a juvenile in southeast Rochester. This claim was corroborated by text messages found on her cell phone.

Due to her previous felony assault convictions as a juvenile, Sabackic is legally barred from possessing firearms or ammunition. Consequently, she now faces a felony charge for illegal possession of a firearm, adding to the serious nature of the incident.
