United States Secret Service agents shot an armed man near the White House late Saturday night, as President Donald Trump was at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. The incident raises concerns about security in the area, though it remains unclear if the White House or the President was the intended target.

The man involved in the shooting has been hospitalized, but his condition is currently unknown. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the Secret Service agents involved in the confrontation, according to agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

Local police had alerted Secret Service agents about a "suicidal" man traveling from Indiana to Washington. Around midnight, agents located the man’s parked vehicle near 17th and F Streets, in close proximity to the White House.

Upon spotting an individual matching the description provided, agents approached the scene. According to the statement, the suspect brandished a firearm, which led to an armed confrontation resulting in shots being fired by the agents.

The suspect was quickly transported to a local hospital, and an investigation by Washington police is currently underway to determine the specifics of the encounter.
