Another arrest made after two, including 5-year-old girl, killed in south Georgia shooting

AMERICUS, Ga. -- A third arrest has been made in connection with the tragic shooting that claimed the lives of a 5-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man in south Georgia last month. On Friday, 17-year-old Farley Watts II was apprehended and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and theft by receiving stolen property related to the incident involving the young girl.
The shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m. on February 8 in the 600 block of Eastview Circle in Americus. In addition to the fatalities, another individual was injured in the incident; their condition remains unknown, though initial reports stated the injuries were not life-threatening.
The victims have been identified as Peyton Roberts, the 5-year-old girl, and Jotavis Leverette, aged 19. Following the shooting, authorities quickly moved to make arrests. Just days after the incident, 19-year-old Ricky Martin was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and battery related to the events of that day.
On February 13, the investigation led to the arrest of Ny'Tavion Smith, 20, who faces charges of aggravated assault and felony murder in connection with Roberts’ death. GBI agents took Smith into custody as the investigation continued.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported that their inquiry remains active. They encourage anyone with additional information regarding the shooting to reach out to either the GBI or the local Americus Police Department.
