Two men were arrested in Oroville, California, on Thursday after one of them fired a gun during a dispute and subsequently led police on a high-speed chase. The incident unfolded when Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) received reports of shots fired and responded at approximately 6:28 p.m. Eduardo Carmona, 22, had been involved in a verbal altercation with family members before fleeing the scene.

Officers located a vehicle matching Carmona's description on Palermo Honcut Highway and attempted to stop it. However, Carmona accelerated and attempted to evade capture. The pursuit extended through Oroville, Forbestown, and into Yuba County until he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole on Laporte Road.

Carmona was apprehended alongside his passenger, 42-year-old Justin Martinez, after the car crash. During the chase, Carmona allegedly discarded a firearm from the vehicle. Following the incident, deputies, assisted by Police Service Dog Chico, searched the area and recovered the firearm approximately 20 yards down a ravine, as well as a high-capacity magazine and several rounds of ammunition.

Investigations revealed that the recovered firearm had been stolen from Chico. Authorities proceeded to arrest Carmona, booking him into the Butte County Jail on multiple felony charges, which include evading a peace officer, violating probation, and discharging a firearm.

The swift response from law enforcement and the effective use of police resources helped ensure a timely resolution to the incident, highlighting the dangers of gun-related disputes and the consequences of evading law enforcement.
