Two 13-year-old girls from New Castle, Delaware, have been charged with assault after allegedly attacking a classmate with a metal Stanley cup at their middle school, Calvin R. McCullough. The incident occurred on the morning of February 28, when the two girls reportedly struck a 13-year-old female student multiple times in the head.

In addition to the two girls, a 12-year-old male student was said to have participated in the assault by hitting the victim with his hands. School staff intervened, separating the students and turning them over to their guardians during the investigation.

Delaware State Police later obtained warrants for the two girls, who subsequently turned themselves in. Both were charged with multiple offenses, including assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, conspiracy, and disorderly conduct. The 12-year-old boy faced a misdemeanor charge.

Following their arraignment in the New Castle County Family Court, the two 13-year-olds were released to their guardians on a $7,500 unsecured bond. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for serious head injuries.

This incident highlights the concerning issue of youth violence in schools, prompting discussions around safety and conduct among students.
