Man accused of putting newborn baby's body in dumpster now facing new charges, records show

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - New charges have emerged against James Boothe, a man previously dismissed for "abuse of a corpse." He now faces five serious allegations, including two counts of trafficking for a commercial sex act, promoting prostitution involving minors, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and statutory rape.
These new charges relate to Boothe's alleged three-year inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl, who subsequently gave birth to a baby girl. Boothe is accused of dispossessing the infant’s body by discarding it in a dumpster.
Currently, Boothe remains in custody, with his bond set at $1 million.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
