VIDEO: Flare Gun Vs. Baseball Bat: Florida Road Rage Erupts Into Violent Attack

A road rage incident in Ruskin, Hillsborough County, on March 6th led to a violent confrontation and the subsequent arrest of a 47-year-old man named Leonard Cako. The altercation began around 10 a.m. when two vehicles engaged in a heated dispute while stopped at a red light at the intersection of South US Highway 41 and West College Avenue.
During the confrontation, Cako exited his white van brandishing an aluminum baseball bat and approached the victim's car. He proceeded to strike and grab the victim while invading the vehicle's space. In a bid to defend himself, the victim fired a flare gun, successfully hitting Cako. This prompted Cako to retaliate by damaging the victim's car with the bat.
Following a thorough investigation, Cako was identified as the primary aggressor and was arrested. He now faces serious charges, including burglary of conveyance with assault or battery, aggravated assault against a person over 65, and criminal mischief exceeding $1,000 in damages.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister commented on the incident, emphasizing the alarming speed at which road rage can spiral out of control. He asserted that there is no justification for such aggressive behavior and expressed satisfaction that the suspect would face consequences for his actions.
