Fall River Police Arrest Two in Connection With Stabbing

FALL RIVER (WBSM) -- Two men have been arrested by Fall River Police in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred Friday night. Police responded to the Cottell Heights Housing Development around 8:45 p.m., where they found a male victim with a stab wound to the chest.
Emergency services transported the victim to a local hospital, where he is currently in stable but critical condition. As officers processed the scene, they discovered a trail of blood that led them to the location of the stabbing at 75 Raymond Street.
Interviews with residents at the building revealed that the incident stemmed from a brief altercation. This information guided police to arrest Barry Cabral, 48, who faces a charge of assault and battery with serious bodily injury. He is currently detained on $50,000 bail.
Additionally, Erik Getchell, 31, was arrested on a charge of accessory after the fact, as well as for multiple outstanding warrants. The investigations continue as police work to gather more information regarding the altercation that led to the stabbing.
The community is understandably shaken by the event, and local authorities are urging anyone with further information to come forward.
