A man was shot by US Secret Service officers outside the White House early Sunday after allegedly brandishing a firearm. This incident arose when the Secret Service received alerts from local police about a "suicidal individual" traveling from Indiana to Washington, DC. Officers were able to locate the man and his parked vehicle near the White House.

Upon their approach, the man reportedly drew a firearm, leading to an armed confrontation. In response, Secret Service officers opened fire, and the suspect was subsequently transported to a local hospital; however, his condition has not been disclosed.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the Secret Service agents involved in the incident. The investigation has been handed over to the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department's Internal Affairs Division Force Investigations Team.

At the time of the shooting, President Donald Trump was not at the White House, as he was at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. This incident adds to the scrutiny the Secret Service has faced, particularly following multiple assassination attempts that occurred while Trump was campaigning for the presidency last summer.
