NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A wanted "violent fugitive" was apprehended following a traffic stop on Interstate 40 East on Sunday, as reported by the Mt. Juliet Police Department.

The stop was initiated due to the vehicle having a suspended license plate. Upon further investigation, police found that the driver, a 37-year-old man from Nashville, had been evading law enforcement in Mississippi for nearly eight years.

The warrant for the suspect’s arrest was issued on June 26, 2017, indicating a long-standing issue with his legal status.

Police discovered that he was wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections on a full extradition warrant for violating probation related to felony aggravated domestic assault.

Following the revelation of the warrant, the Mt. Juliet Police Department arrested the suspect.
