SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A man was arrested in Salinas on Saturday morning on drug charges following a slow-speed pursuit during a traffic stop. The incident began when the Salinas Police's Violence Suppression Task Force (VSTF) executed a search warrant related to the sale of cocaine and Xanax.

The suspect was spotted leaving his residence in a Toyota Camry and was subsequently stopped by VSTF officers at the intersection of Boronda Road and N. Main Street. However, instead of complying, he led officers on a slow-speed chase.

The pursuit was ultimately terminated when VSTF officers used a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver on Rita and E. Bolivar Streets, bringing the vehicle to a halt.

Upon searching the suspect's vehicle, officers discovered a substantial amount of cash totaling $11,506, along with approximately 9 grams of cocaine and 92.8 grams of Alprazolam, which is a medication commonly used for anxiety.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Monterey County Jail, where he is facing multiple drug charges.
