LANCASTER, S.C. (WBTV) - A tragic shooting incident in Lancaster County has left one man dead and two others injured, according to the Lancaster Sheriff's Office. The events unfolded on Sunday, March 9, when deputies received a call from a man claiming he had killed a woman and her child on Mosteller Drive.

Upon arriving at the scene just before 12:30 p.m., deputies encountered an armed man in the yard, who then exchanged gunfire with law enforcement. The man was pronounced dead on the scene, while additional law enforcement, including SWAT and South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, secured the area.

Upon entering the residence, deputies discovered a woman and a juvenile male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both were treated and transported to a local hospital, although their current condition remains unknown.

The sheriff's office has confirmed that the scene is secure, and they are not seeking any additional suspects, assuring the public that there is no ongoing threat in the area. However, residents are advised to avoid the vicinity of Holiday Road and Mosteller Drive while officials conduct their investigation.

Sheriff Barry Faile expressed condolences for those affected, stating, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members and friends of those touched by this horrific incident. We pray that this woman and child will survive their injuries."
