SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Early this morning, around 5:45 a.m., South Bend Police responded to an alarm at the Hilti Distribution Center located on Olive Road. Upon arrival, officers noticed a U-Haul truck leaving the warehouse, prompting police to initiate a traffic stop due to the vehicle's erratic driving.

However, the U-Haul failed to stop, leading to a pursuit on U.S. 20. The chase concluded when the truck crashed near U.S. 20 and Rosewood Road in Saint Joseph County. Following the crash, three male occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene.

With help from the New Carlisle Police Department, officers apprehended the suspects: 26-year-old Marquell Strickland, and 22-year-olds Darvel Grady and Areon Halloway. Inside the U-Haul, police discovered a stash of tools stolen from Hilti Distribution Center, valued at over $61,000.

All three men were transported to the Saint Joseph County Jail, where they face preliminary charges related to the incident. The suspects are currently awaiting formal charges from the Saint Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.

This case remains under investigation as authorities gather more information.
