A tragic incident unfolded in Lancaster County, South Carolina, where a man died after allegedly shooting a woman and a child. The situation escalated when he called 911 to report the shooting, leading deputies to respond to the scene on Mosteller Drive shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered the armed man outside his home. An exchange of gunfire occurred between him and the deputies, resulting in the man's death on the scene. Fortunately, none of the deputies sustained injuries during the confrontation.

Following the gunfire, a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, alongside South Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers, conducted a thorough investigation. They discovered the woman and child inside the home, both appearing to have sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel treated them at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital, though their conditions remain unknown.

As per protocol, the deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid leave while the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) conducts its investigation. Although the immediate scene is secured, the investigation is classified as ongoing, indicating that additional developments may arise.

Sheriff Barry Faile described the incident as profoundly tragic, extending thoughts and prayers to those affected, particularly the injured woman and child. The identity of the armed man has not yet been released to the public.
