Colorado Springs Police Department officer on administrative leave following Tuesday evening shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A Colorado Springs Police Department officer has been placed on administrative leave following a shooting incident on Tuesday evening. The event unfolded at an apartment complex on Delta Drive around 9:30 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a road rage situation involving a firearm.
As law enforcement approached the scene, a resident opened an apartment door while pointing a raised handgun at the officers. In response to this immediate threat, at least one officer discharged their weapon.
Fortunately, the suspect was taken into custody without any injuries reported. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), no one was hurt during the incident.
As per departmental policy, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office will take the lead in investigating the shooting. Additionally, a significant event briefing is scheduled to take place in 21 days, during which body camera footage of the incident will be released.
The CSPD has confirmed that no injuries occurred as a result of the officer-involved shooting on Tuesday evening.
