Man arrested, accused of starting 20-acre fire near Garden of the Gods

A man has been arrested in connection with a significant 20-acre fire that ignited near Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Police have taken 48-year-old Adam Gilmour into custody, charging him with fourth-degree arson related to the incident.
The fire was first reported through a 9-1-1 call, with the caller indicating that they had seen an individual potentially fleeing the scene. In response, both police and Colorado Springs Firefighters were dispatched to manage the situation.
As firefighting crews battled the flames, police discovered potential evidence at the site. This evidence was preserved until investigators arrived, allowing them to identify the origin of the fire and locate a makeshift campsite nearby.
Gilmour was subsequently identified as the suspect and apprehended in a nearby area. He has been booked at the El Paso County Justice Center on a range of charges.
In addition to the arson charge, Gilmour faces unrelated felony and misdemeanor warrants, as well as a misdemeanor charge for possession of narcotics.
