A Billings man, Godfrey Brokenrope, 19, pleaded not guilty to charges of deliberate homicide in Yellowstone County District Court on Monday. This follows his recent arrest following a police pursuit, which occurred after what prosecutors described as "one of the most brazen and horrible crimes" in the city in the past decade.

Brokenrope is accused of being involved in the double homicide of 31-year-old Kenneth Morrison and his one-year-old son, Tatee'K, at their home in north Billings. During the court proceedings, Justice of the Peace David Carter agreed to set Brokenrope's bail at $500,000. He has been assigned a public defender and is scheduled for a court appearance on May 22.

Court documents allege that Brokenrope, along with another individual, opened fire on the home from a vehicle, resulting in Morrison's death. Tragically, Tatee'K was found unresponsive in his father's arms and later died from compression asphyxia.

Two other individuals have also been charged in relation to the crime. Myron Goes Ahead, who fired shots at the residence, pleaded guilty to deliberate homicide and negligent homicide and is set for sentencing on April 22. Meanwhile, Jane Knows His Gun pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and received a 10-year sentence at Montana Women's Prison.

As the case continues to develop, the community is left grappling with the impact of this tragic event while awaiting further court proceedings.
