Alaska mother arrested after leaving toddler alone in car to go on 'romantic rendezvous', troopers say

A Fairbanks mother has been arrested after leaving her 20-month-old child inside a parked car outside a bar and hotel in Healy, according to the Alaska State Troopers. The incident occurred when 38-year-old Lillian Johnson left her child alone to engage in what was described as a "romantic rendezvous."
Troopers reported that Johnson was charged with first-degree child endangerment and subsequently taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center. The investigation revealed that the child was unattended in the vehicle for approximately half an hour in freezing temperatures.
At the time of the incident, the outside temperature was only 6 degrees Fahrenheit, and the car's heater was off. Witnesses noted that the child was crying and that a window was partially open.
Tri-Valley EMS responded to the hotel to provide care for the child, who was treated for hypothermia. The situation highlights the dangers of leaving young children alone in vehicles, especially in extreme weather conditions.
Johnson's actions have raised concerns about child safety, prompting discussions on the responsibilities of parents in keeping their children safe from harm.
