Lincoln Police identify shooter and victim in deadly domestic violence incident

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - In a tragic domestic violence incident early Wednesday morning, 44-year-old Pah To shot and killed his live-in girlfriend, 40-year-old Bu Gay, and also injured her 13-year-old son. The incident took place shortly after midnight at an apartment in southwest Lincoln, prompting a 911 call from the boy who reported that he and his mother had been shot.

Authorities arrived on the scene around 12:10 a.m. and found Pah To deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a bedroom. Bu Gay, who had sustained a gunshot wound, was subsequently transported to the hospital but did not survive her injuries. Meanwhile, the 13-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital for surgery and is expected to recover.

Two other children, aged 15 and 8, were present in the home during the incident but were unharmed. They have since been taken to the BraveBe Child Advocacy Center for safety and interviews. Police recovered multiple shell casings and a firearm from the apartment, which sheds light on the violent circumstances that unfolded.

It is noted that Pah To was the father of the 8-year-old boy, and all three children were attending Lincoln Public Schools. In light of this incident, Lincoln Police emphasized the importance of domestic violence resources available to the community, including various support organizations and the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.
