Police report finding modified automatic pistol during Fayetteville traffic stop | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

FAYETTEVILLE -- During a nighttime traffic stop on Dickson Street, police found a pistol equipped with a 50-round drum magazine that had been modified for full automatic firing. The suspect, 19-year-old Kaedon Drake Moubarak from Fayetteville, was arrested for violating the uniform machine gun act and is being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond.
The incident began when officers noticed Moubarak's red Toyota Camry driving without headlights or taillights shortly before midnight. After pulling him over, they detected the smell of marijuana and requested permission to search the vehicle. Despite Moubarak's refusal to consent, the officers proceeded with the search based on probable cause.
Upon searching the car, police found a black Palmetto brand pistol on the floor, complete with a "Glock switch" and the large magazine. A "Glock switch" is a device that can convert a semiautomatic Glock pistol into an automatic firearm, and authorities confirmed this particular switch had been 3D printed.
A passenger in the vehicle claimed that the gun belonged to Moubarak, yet he declined to answer any questions posed by law enforcement. The situation underscores the dangers associated with illegal firearm modifications and drug-related offenses.
Moubarak's arrest highlights ongoing concerns regarding gun violence and the accessibility of illegal weapons in the community. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
