Suspect arrested after assaulting law enforcement in Roberts Co.

A suspect was arrested in Roberts County for assaulting law enforcement following an incident near the Sisseton Warming House. The Roberts County Sheriff's Office reported that a deputy initiated an arrest for a suspect on parole who had an active warrant for assault on law enforcement.
During the arrest attempt, the suspect became aggressive and tried to seize the deputy's taser but was not successful. This confrontation escalated when the suspect grabbed a branch and lunged at the deputy.
Additional law enforcement units quickly arrived at the scene, enabling them to subdue and arrest the suspect. He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer.
Fortunately, the deputy sustained only a minor hand injury during the struggle. He has since returned to duty.
