Butte Police investigating credit union robbery, suspect at large

Butte police are searching for a suspect involved in the robbery of a credit union on Monday, March 24, 2025. The incident took place at the Southwest Montana Community Federal Credit Union on Elizabeth Warren Avenue around 12:21 p.m.
According to Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester, the male suspect entered the credit union and handed a note to the staff demanding money. The staff complied, providing an undisclosed amount of cash, after which the suspect fled the scene, potentially in a dark-colored passenger vehicle. There were no reports of any weapons being displayed or injuries sustained during the robbery.
The suspect is described as a white male with dark, curly hair and a dark beard, possibly wearing a green shirt at the time of the incident.
Sheriff Lester noted that the investigation is still in its early stages and further information will be released as it becomes available.
