A Rhode Island community is both celebrating and seeking answers after a missing woman on the autism spectrum was found safe. Linda DaLomba, 45, was reported missing for five days before being discovered curled up in the fetal position in the back of an SUV by Savong Sam, who had come to perform maintenance work on the vehicle. A comparison of photos confirmed her identity, prompting Sam to alert the police.

Authorities confirmed that DaLomba was found in good spirits, but as a non-verbal individual, she could not communicate what had transpired during her absence. Concerns arose regarding her well-being, particularly since she requires insulin every two hours, leading neighbors to question how she survived and remained alert while trapped.

Roberta Gerard, DaLomba’s caregiver, was identified and subsequently taken into custody on multiple charges, including abuse and felony exploitation of an adult with severe impairment. This revelation has raised further questions about what led to DaLomba’s ordeal and the conditions under which she had been living.

Family members expressed their relief at DaLomba's safe return while also voicing their anger toward Gerard. They confronted her in court, expressing betrayal and frustration for the harm that was done. Gerard, however, declined to respond to questions from the media or family members, leaving many in the community seeking clarity about the situation.

As the investigation unfolds, the community remains united in their gratitude for the safe return of Linda DaLomba, while also demanding accountability and answers regarding her disappearance and treatment during the five days she was missing.
