Trial date set for woman involved in quadruple homicide in Laurel, NE

HARTINGTON, Neb. (KTIV) - Carrie Jones, the wife of Jason Jones, who was convicted for the murder of four individuals in Northeast Nebraska, has been given a trial date. Court records indicate that her jury trial is set for July 28, 2025, in Madison County. She faces charges including first-degree murder for her role in the death of Gene Twiford in August 2022, as well as charges of tampering with evidence and being an accessory to a felony.
Carrie Jones has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is scheduled for a status hearing on April 28. Her husband, Jason, was found guilty in September 2024 of four counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree arson. The victims included Gene Twiford, his wife Janet, their daughter Dana, and Michelle Ebeling. Following the murders, Jason allegedly set their homes in Laurel on fire.
The couples' trials were moved from Cedar County due to the inability to secure a fair trial in that jurisdiction. Jason Jones’s trial was held in Dakota County, where he received the guilty verdict. He is currently pending sentencing and could face the death penalty or life imprisonment for his crimes.
As Carrie prepares for her trial, the implications of the case continue to unfold, particularly in the small community affected by the tragic events. The joint nature of both trials has drawn significant media attention and public interest in the proceedings.
The upcoming trial date for Carrie Jones will be closely monitored, as it will address her involvement and seek to bring additional clarity to the circumstances surrounding the horrific events that unfolded in 2022.
