Butte credit union robbery suspect identified, facing charges

A 31-year-old man named Andrew J. Davis is facing robbery charges related to an incident at the Southwest Montana Community Federal Credit Union in Butte. He was arrested on March 24, 2025, shortly after the robbery took place and is scheduled to appear in Butte-Silver Bow Justice Court soon.

According to authorities, Davis allegedly entered the credit union and handed a note to employees demanding money before fleeing with an undisclosed sum. His arrest occurred within two hours of the crime, near Rocker, following a coordinated effort by law enforcement.

Sheriff Ed Lester reported that the police received the robbery call at 12:21 p.m. and acted quickly, leading to a dramatic apprehension on I-15. During the incident, there were no injuries reported, and no weapon was displayed by Davis.

Davis has been noted as non-compliant regarding his court appearance, raising concerns about whether he will attend the upcoming hearing. If convicted, he faces significant penalties, including up to 40 years in prison and potential fines of $50,000.
