SPRINGFIELD - A shooting in downtown Springfield on Tuesday afternoon resulted in injuries to two individuals and the arrest of three suspects. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m., and authorities quickly responded to reports of gunfire.

According to police spokesman Ryan Walsh, both victims were transported to Baystate Medical Center with injuries that are not considered life threatening. The shooting took place outside Union Station on Frank B. Murray Street.

Officers were alerted to the situation by a ShotSpotter activation and quickly located the injured parties. The police's Firearms Investigation Unit then worked to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the shooting.

Within a short time, law enforcement officials tracked down three suspects just a few blocks away, in the vicinity of Edwards, Elliot, and Chestnut streets.
