An Indiana State Police investigation has resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Dominic William Mudgett from Boscawen, New Hampshire, on charges linked to child sexual trafficking. Mudgett is accused of soliciting nude photographs from a juvenile through social media, offering payment in exchange for the explicit images.
The case came to light on October 23, 2024, and following a five-month investigation, detectives identified Mudgett. The Merrimack County Prosecutor's Office subsequently issued search warrants for his vehicle and residence. On March 18, authorities arrested Mudgett near his home in Boscawen with the assistance of the Indiana State Police.
Madison County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Hanna remarked on the commitment to pursuing justice for victims of sex crimes, regardless of the perpetrator's location. Mudgett is now in custody at the Merrimack County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Indiana. He faces three Level 3 felony charges for promoting child sexual trafficking and a Level 6 felony charge for disseminating harmful material to minors.
In light of this case, the Indiana State Police emphasizes the importance of parental monitoring of children's online activities and encourages education about the risks associated with online predators. Parents are urged to report any suspicious behavior to authorities or to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline.
Assisting agencies in the investigation included the Merrimack County Sheriff's Office ICAC Unit, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, and the Boscawen Police Department. It is important to note that under the law, everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
