A Missoula woman, Emily Svoboda, was sentenced to 13 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release on drug trafficking charges, as announced by U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme. Svoboda, 31, had pleaded guilty in November 2024 to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances.

Court documents revealed that on November 23, 2022, a confidential source purchased 100 fentanyl pills from Svoboda for $600. During this transaction, the source inquired about the availability of methamphetamine, a request Svoboda could not fulfill at that moment but mentioned she would likely be resupplying later that evening. Although she had a stash of around 200 pills, she was unwilling to sell all of them.

Subsequent transactions included a purchase on November 28, 2022, where the source obtained 26.5 grams of methamphetamine and 50 fentanyl pills for $1,000. Again, on December 9, 2022, Svoboda sold 53.7 grams of methamphetamine along with 100 fentanyl pills for a total of $1,400. Evidence from Svoboda's Facebook pages indicated involvement in drug promotions, and she admitted to law enforcement that she had sold drugs.

Svoboda disclosed she was receiving between two to four ounces of methamphetamine from a co-conspirator every two to four weeks, with transactions spanning from September to December 2022. U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy presided over the sentencing.

The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and investigated by the ATF, the Missoula Police Department, and the Missoula High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
