Masonville man pleads guilty to killing pregnant wife
MASONVILLE, N.Y. (WBNG) - A Masonville man, Drew Garnier, has pled guilty in Delaware County Court to killing his wife and injuring their two children. The tragic incident occurred on September 4, 2024, when Garnier, 33, fatally stabbed his pregnant wife, Samantha J. Garnier, 29, while also inflicting significant injuries on their two children at their home on Houck Rd.
On March 25, Garnier entered a guilty plea to a first-degree manslaughter charge and two counts of first-degree assault, both classified as violent felonies. As part of his plea agreement, he withdrew pending motions and waived his right to appear in future court proceedings.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Garnier agreed to a sentence of 30 years in state prison, followed by 15 years of post-release supervision. After the plea was accepted, he was taken into custody by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.
Officials have scheduled the final sentencing for May 13, where Garnier will be formally sentenced for his crimes. The case has drawn significant attention due to its tragic nature and the impact on the affected family.
