A 27-year-old man was arrested in Great Bend, Kansas, after a babysitter discovered him hiding under a child's bed. The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. on a Monday when the babysitter was putting the children to sleep, and one of the kids alerted her to a "monster" under the bed.

In an effort to reassure the child, the babysitter looked beneath the bed and found the man hiding there. This encounter led to a brief altercation that resulted in both the babysitter and a child being knocked over. The man then fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Deputies from the Barton County Sheriff's Office quickly began searching for the suspect, who was later identified as someone previously residing at the house but who had been barred from returning due to a protective order. The search continued into the early morning hours.

Eventually, the man was located near the home, and after a short foot chase, deputies apprehended him. He was booked into the Barton County Jail on multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping and violation of a protection from abuse order.

The suspect is being held on a $500,000 bond, and while formal charges are still pending, authorities have not yet released additional details. Nexstar's KSN refrains from identifying suspects until they have been officially charged in court.
