Prosecutors in Boise, Idaho, are seeking to prevent the family members of Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students, from attending the courtroom during other witness testimonies. This motion emerged following the prosecution's earlier request to ensure the immediate family members of the victims could be present, regardless of their testimony schedules.

Kohberger's defense team has objected to this motion, asserting that if the victims' families are permitted to attend, then Kohberger's parents and sisters should also be allowed in the courtroom. They further argued that if the victims' family members are present, they should avoid wearing any items that might influence the jury, such as clothing with memorial messages.

In response to the defense's concerns, the prosecution emphasized that families of homicide victims possess constitutional and statutory rights to attend the proceedings, rights that do not extend to the families of defendants. They also indicated that they may call some members of the Kohberger family to testify.

The prosecution plans to ask the court to implement measures ensuring witnesses remain excluded from the courtroom until their testimonies, safeguarding the integrity of their statements and preventing any influence from hearing previous testimonies.

Details regarding the witness list that the prosecution intends to present at the trial are due by April 21, highlighting the ongoing tension between the prosecution and defense in this high-profile case.
