WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) - Authorities responded to suspicious noises coming from the abandoned Pinnacle Mines facility Tuesday afternoon, leading to the discovery of two men inside the building. The incident unfolded around 2:40 PM when L. Cpl. J. Grimmette of the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office heard loud banging while patrolling near Route 16.

After notifying Sgt. C. Hedinger, who was aware of previous thefts in the area, the officers entered the facility to investigate further. Upon reaching the second floor, they found Thomas Hurley and another unidentified suspect rummaging through the premises. One of the men was armed with a 9mm pistol, which officers quickly secured.

A thorough search of the area revealed various stolen items, including tools, wiring, and equipment believed to have been taken from the mining property. Outside the building, the officers also discovered a red Chevy S-10 pickup truck parked behind it, filled with additional mining equipment.

Further investigation of the truck led to the discovery of a second firearm hidden in the glove compartment. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office for processing.

Charges are currently pending as the investigation continues into the thefts and illegal possession of firearms during the incident.
