1 dead, 2 injured after stabbing in Academy neighborhood

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A stabbing incident on Wednesday evening left one person dead and two others injured in St. Louis. Police responded to a call at approximately 8:35 p.m. in the 5100 block of Maple Avenue, discovering a 53-year-old man in a backyard with fatal stab wounds, while a man and a woman in the residence had sustained injuries as well. The 53-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Initial investigations revealed that the deceased had forcibly entered the home and attacked the man and woman with a knife. During the altercation, the man managed to wrestle the knife away from the intruder and ultimately stabbed him, leading to the 53-year-old's death.
The man and woman injured in the incident were taken to a local hospital and are currently listed in stable condition. As the investigation continues, authorities are piecing together the exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
Homicide detectives are leading the ongoing inquiry into the event, seeking clarity on the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.
