KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) -- Anthony Grose, a 39-year-old man from Charleston, appeared in court on Thursday to face charges related to a deadly stabbing incident. He pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the case involving the death of 29-year-old Brandon Bandy, which occurred in September 2024. A trial date has been set for July 7, 2025.

The incident unfolded on September 12 when Charleston police found Bandy in a parking lot on Smith Street suffering from multiple stab wounds. Authorities reported that Grose and Bandy had been involved in a confrontation over a female in the 500 block of Leon Sullivan Way.

During the altercation, Grose allegedly took out a knife and stabbed Bandy multiple times before fleeing the scene. The severity of Bandy's injuries ultimately led to his death, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Grose was apprehended shortly after the incident in the 300 block of Laidley Street, where he was taken into custody by police officers. As the case moves toward trial, the community is left grappling with the consequences of this violent act.

The court proceedings will continue to unfold, with both sides preparing for the upcoming trial, while the family and friends of Brandon Bandy mourn their loss.
