New details in Jackson County murder, kidnapping - WXXV News 25

A Jackson County man, 24-year-old Karis Hamilton, has been arrested on murder charges following a domestic dispute that escalated into violence early Thursday morning. He is accused of fatally shooting 20-year-old Devin McDaniel at a residence on Santa Fe Avenue in the St. Martin community.

The incident also left Devin's mother, 34-year-old Rosland McDaniel, injured from gunfire. She was airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans, where she is reported to be in critical condition.

Following the shooting, Hamilton fled the scene with his four children, whose ages range from 2 to 7 years old. Fortunately, the children were later found safe at a relative's house in Gautier.

Hamilton is now facing charges of murder and domestic violence and is currently detained at the Jackson County jail. Investigators continue to gather evidence and details surrounding the incident.
